The making of artistic choices and the role of the arguments played in this process along with the theory of sociology of art, are explored. A conceptual model is established that explains the value regimes in which artistic selections are made.

The normative underpinning of acts of social giving is presented. The specific reciprocity norms that affect social exchanges are highlighted in order to identify the conditions under which people tend to object to redistributive policies.
