Human rights and community work: Complementary theories and practices
Article Abstract:
An effort is made to develop international understandings of human rights without the corresponding attention to responsibilities. It is argued that a community development framework may be useful in reconceiving human rights in a more holistic way and that social workers and community development workers are well placed to be grassroots human rights workers.

Human rights and social work: A western imposition or empowerment to the people?
Article Abstract:
Some social commentators are divided over whether human rights discourse is a powerful and valuable tool or just another form of western imposition. Even though navigating the grey area between respecting cultural diversity and upholding human rights is not easy, it can be done by tremendous efforts.

The success factors in community work services: A critical incident study
Article Abstract:
The results of a study in which the critical incident technique (CIT) was used to determine success factors in community work services are presented. The results were compared with those of a typical opinion survey and the CIT proved to be a more neutral and effective research tool.
