Introducing a biopsychosocial approach in an oncology institute: a case study
Article Abstract:
The change in therapeutic approach introduced in an oncology institute was based on a holistic and biopsychosocial approach to cancer treatment. The medical director attended individual sessions with the patients and their families, and groups sessions and workshops to inspire the staff to participate in the implementation of the program. The new framework made the patients responsible for their recovery and reduced their anxiety level.
