Gender biases underlying the social construction of illness states: the case of chronic fatigue syndrome
Article Abstract:
This article examines the biomedical and psychosocial literatures on the etiology of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), an illness predominate among women. The authors, maintaining the literature implies that CFS is perceived as a psychological disorder, argue that female illnesses often are treated as such and lack adequate biomedical research.

Data of university employees is used to determine the extent to which workplace harassment predicts drinking or visa-versa. Males and females manifest distinctly different patterns of the direction of causality between workplace harassment and drinking.
