Looking good, feeling good: the embodied pleasures of vibrant physicality
Article Abstract:
An ethnographic study of bodybuilding subculture in Wales is discussed in relation to the sociology of 'healthy' bodies. Topics include fitness in relation to postmodern selfhood, fit bodies and the somatic representation of health, youthful bodies, the erotics of the gym and pragmatic embodiment, and bringing 'healthy' bodies back to medical sociology and anthropology.

Tuberculosis and ethnicity in England and Wales, 1950-70

An analysis is presented on the management of tuberculosis between England and Wales during 1950 to 1970, focusing on migratory workers and social justice issues. While contemporary writers have indicated that racial discrimination played a significant role in directing health policy, medical examinations proposed for Welsh migrants were never implemented.

A study using ethnographic data provides a micro-level analysis of the practice of intensive care, examining the incorporation strategy for medical dominance at a micro-level, is presented. The study was conducted on three intensive care units in England.
