Masked affective priming by name letters: Evidence for a correspondence of explicit and implicit self-esteem
Article Abstract:
Sixty participants were used as masked primers in an affective priming experiment for measuring implicit self-esteem. A positive effect was found for the participants with high self-esteem, whereas for participants with low self-esteem, the effect was negative.

The desire for offsprings among the individuals is related to the anxiety over the death that terminates the human existence. The terror management theory is employed to assess the significance of self-preservation as an anxiety buffer.
