Monument wars and the pursuit of symbolic dominion over a territory: Analysis based on the case of Germans in Poland
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the Polish-German case has shown that the symbolic dominion over domain guarantees leaders and other members of the German minority numerous privileges when it comes to mobilizing the group and also in various political, cultural and religious activities. An explanation of the ethnic and nationality animosities and conflicts at the symbolic level based on the case of conflict between the German minority and the Polish majority and Poland since 1989 is presented.
