NAHRO in San Antonio
Article Abstract:
The National Assn of Housing and Redevelopment Officials' 1998 National Conference and Exhibition will be held in San Antonio, TX, on Oct 25-28. The event will revolve around the theme 'Stepping into the Future,' and will include over 70 sessions, more than 150 exhibitors of housing and community development products and services, and a Community Development Tour showing the city's community renewal efforts. The sessions include 'Wall Street and Public Housing,' 'Power, Politics and the Commissioner,' 'Managing Section 8 - Moving to a Budget Based Program,' and 'Developing Effective Maintenance Plans for Small to Medium Authorities.' Attendees can also take advantage of the opportunity to explore San Antonio's many attractions, such as the Alamo and the rest of the Antonio Missions National Historical Park, the River Walk, Market Square, and the 200-year-old town of La Villita.

Electronic communications: a necessity for local agencies
Article Abstract:
Most local housing authorities have been moving towards electronic record keeping but now it is necessary. The Department of Housing and Urban Development now wants the records it requires from local agencies to be submitted electronically. Various helpful computer service agencies are listed.
