Pathological gambling, gender, and risk-taking behaviors
Article Abstract:
A comparative study of seventy-eight male and seventy-eight female gamblers was conducted for comparing the genders of pathological gamblers in relation to their risk-taking behaviors and examining the relationship of the risk behaviors with impulsivity and emotional distress. Impulsivity and emotional distress were found to be associated with risk-taking gamblers and young gamblers who displayed potentially harmful behaviors would require more attention.

Reasons for dropout from drug abuse treatment: symptoms, personality, and motivation
Article Abstract:
Reasons for early attrition from substance abuse programs are examined from the patients' perspectives. Findings show that maladaptive personality function indicators are strongly linked to reasons for attrition, particularly those centered around boundary and privacy issues. Implications are discussed.
