Article Abstract:
Issues examined concern the role of pluriactivity, the acquisition of income from multiple economic activities, in rural Norway. Topics discussed include the integration of rural and urban labor markets, employment trends in agriculture, and how pluriactivity effects different sectors of economic production.

Pluriactivity in the Moshav: family farming in Israel
Article Abstract:
Farming households around Tel Aviv have seen the agricultural source of their income decline and have developed other sources in response. The farther away from the city the more income derives from farming, while alternative income sources for nearer farms come from small business and wage employment.

Social norms, rationales and policies: reframing farmland protection in Israel
Article Abstract:
Issues discussed concern the social and economic context of agricultural protection policies in Israel. The discourse surrounding the rural land use policies is analyzed in terms of social norms, the role of agriculture in the economy, and the dominant ideology concerning the environment.
