Psychoanalytic theory, child sexual abuse and clinical social work
Article Abstract:
A psychoanalytic theory explaining the relation of child sexual abuse with the development of adult neuroses is presented. The theory will be evaluated in relation to Freud's seduction hypothesis, which suggests that hysteria or neuroses results from the attempt to erase internal psychic pain rooted to a traumatic experience such as unwanted intrusion on the child's body from the outside. The analysis focuses on effect of these experiences on the psychological development of the child rather than on the motivation of the perpetrator for committing the act.

A response to Richard Alperin's article: "Managed care versus psychoanalytic psychotherapy: conflicting ideologies."
Article Abstract:
The short-term therapy approach used for treating the phobic tendencies of a 13-year old boy is evaluated. The discussion focuses on the conflicting ideologies between managed care and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Excluding the boy's parents from the treatment is not advisable because his behavior and personality problems are obviously rooted to the system which the mother has imposed on their family. Although effective, short-term therapy is not the appropriate approach for treating a problem that has been present for a long time.

Metaphors in psychoanalytic theory and therapy
Article Abstract:
The influence of metaphors in psychoanalytic theory is analyzed. It argued that metaphors are the essential basis of science and that psychoanalytic theory is made up of metaphors which will slowly be replaced with truths that emerge from psychoanalytic dialogue. It is also argued that psychoanalysis will only become a science if metaphors are eliminated from psychoanalytic theory. The various theory-constitutive metaphors are discussed.
