Retrospective reports of parenting received in their families of origin: Relationships to adult attachment in adult children of alcoholics
Article Abstract:
General and romantic attachment and parenting students received in their families of origin among 401 students who resided with an alcohol-abusing parent prior to age 16 years as compared to those who did not reside with alcohol-abusing parents is examined. Compared to non-adult children of alcoholic's (ACOA's), college students classified as ACOA reported significantly more fearful general adult attachment and more avoidant attachment behaviors in romantic relationships.

Therapists' perceptions of the link between stress and the urge to drink among alcoholics
Article Abstract:
The ability of therapists who have clinical experience in treating alcoholism to perceive the specific way alcoholics function cognitively when confronted with stressful events are discussed. The results shows that therapists were highly capable of assessing the cognitive processes of patients, both their judgments of stress and urge to drink and well aware of the particular relationship between stress and alcohol that characterizes the alcoholic population are examined.

High-risk relapse situations and self-efficacy: comparison between alcoholics and heroin addicts
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the differences between alcoholics and heroin addicts in some relapse dimensions and self-efficacy. The results of the study indicate that the high-risk relapse situations are negative emotions (NE), testing personal control (TPC), social pressure (SP), and urge and temptations (UT).
