Showcasing achievements in affordable housing
Article Abstract:
Four well-planned projects, guided by NAHRO members are awarded to NAHRO Awards of Excellence in Affordable Housing. Some successful projects are Nisbett building in Big Rapids, Michigan, the Gum Spring Glen in Fairfax County, the Spokane Housing Authority in Spokane, Wash and Community based housing in Cumberland County.

Keep HOPE VI alive
Article Abstract:
Congress approved the HOPE VI program for the 'severely distressed', low-income residents. This resulted in construction of approximately 19,000 public and market-rate housing units. Congress approved the HOPE VI program as a component of the commission's national action plan.

High-wire act creates challenge
Article Abstract:
Many housing authority executives feel like acrobats, trying to balance efforts to help struggling families. Balancing the adoption of business practices with meeting a social mission will provide new challenges for the acrobatic housing authority executives.
