Article Abstract:
The close relationship that exists between the participation of workers in a trade union election and their prior work experience is analyzed. It is concluded that the workers' first-hand experience of oppression, discrimination and exploitation not only formed the social basis for their participation in the election, but was also significant in that under the right circumstances it would constitute the driving force for action based on class.
