A social work vision have a key contribution in promoting human welfare and social change. For a developing country like Tanzania, a social work vision needs to build on the strengths of the social work profession and its context.

A micro-ethnographic study conducted to examine the status of current social work in Russia is discussed. Social work has become the fastest-growing profession in Russia, after the fall of communism.
