Stress and the urge to drink
Article Abstract:
A study of alcoholics and non-alcoholics in France shows that when presented with a stressful scenario, those in the non-alcoholic group did not think the situation called for a drink, even when combined with another stressful scenario. Alcoholics, on the other hand, felt that all the situations created an urge to drink. After a treatment program, alcoholics perceived less of an urge to drink in response to stressful stimuli.
