Teaching the cultural politics and economy of global cities in the periphery
Article Abstract:
Urban geography pedagogy involves the study of globalization and urbanization by comprehending cultural flows, practices, and processes involved in global cities. Mumbai, Hong Kong, Lagos, Shanghai, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro are the peripheral cities that are regionally and internationally important with respect to the cultural processes and practices that occur in them.

Urban geography with scale: rethinking scale via Wal-Mart's "geography of big things"
Article Abstract:
An urban-geographic reading of scale is presented using the urban/global spatiality of Wal-Mart, the world's largest retail operation. Its 'geography of big things' enables the understanding of spatiality as a flow of outsized spaces and global commodity chains.
