The researchers at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics are working on the fundamentals of quantum computing, and are trying to achieve one of the biggest goals in physics, that of unifying relativity and quantum mechanics. Perimeter has received funds of $66 million from Mike Lazaridis, founder and co-CEO of Research in Motion, $13 million from two of his colleagues and $43 million from the local, provincial and federal governments.
