The emergence of gated communities in a West African context: Evidence from Greater Accra, Ghana
Article Abstract:
The analysis of the formation of the gated communities in West African cities, such as in Greater Accra, Ghana, is presented. The analysis has indicated that the globalization of real estate markets and Diaspora living are important aspects in the residential geography of Accra and the concept of transnational houses has described the aspects of the local property market that are being globalized and differentiated from local housing.

Racial/ethnic residential sorting in spatial context: testing the explanatory frameworks
Article Abstract:
A study examines the validity of four explanatory frameworks on racial/ethnic segregation, namely, Assimilation, Stratification, Resurgent Ethnicity, and Market-Led Pluralism, in terms of intraurban residential patterning and changes. It is concluded that Resurgent Ethnicity and Market-Led Pluralism are the most valid frameworks.
