The extinction of naturally occurring conditioned reactions in psychoactive substance users: analog studies
Article Abstract:
A research study developed an analog approach to study conditioned reactions to drug stimuli which are a naturally occurring conditioned reaction of salivation at the sight of a lemon. The study further showed that this conditioned reaction can be removed and there can be instant recovery after the 'relapse' conditioned reaction increases. This appeach can be used for developing cue-exposure treatments which reduce spontaneity recovery from extinction and minimize the possibility of relapse.

Substance use and impulsive behaviors among adolescents with eating disorders
Article Abstract:
Adolescent girls with anorexia nervosa have a low rate of substance abuse. Bulimic adolescents are involved in multiple substance use, and have an increased tendency to attempt suicide, steal, and have sexual intercourse. The age or intentional self-harm behavior have no influence on substance use in individuals with bulimic symptoms. This suggests that there are differences in the personalities of individuals with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.
