The moderating effects of peer substance use on the family structure-adolescent substance use association: Quantity versus quality of parenting
Article Abstract:
The association between family structure and adolescent substance use, focusing on the potential conditioning effects of the level of exposure to substance-using peers, is examined. It was found that living with two natural parents serves as a protective factor against using tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs, but only under conditions when exposure to deviant peers is lowest.

Parental occupation, education, and smoking as predictors of offspring tobacco use in adulthood: A longitudinal study
Article Abstract:
The interrelation of parental occupational status between parental education, parental smoking, parent-child relations, late adolescent tobacco use and adult offspring smoking is examined. It was observed that the parental educational level was partially mediated by the parent-adolescent relationship and also had a direct path to adult offspring smoking.
