History of sexual abuse and obesity treatment outcome
Article Abstract:
Clinical data across obese women reporting a history of sexual abuse and those denying sexual abuse indicates that abuse hinders the outcome of treatments. Women with a history of sexual abuse show lower self-efficacy under psychological distress, and reported lesser weight loss and more nonadherences. The sample population is comprised of subjects under a hospital-based very-low-calorie diet weight-management program. Results are based on the Beck Depression Inventory and the Weight Efficacy Life-Style Questionnaire.
