The trajectory of the United States in the world-system: A quantitative reflection
Article Abstract:
The conclusions reached after a quantitative analysis of the direction taken by the United States from a world historical viewpoint and based on world and country gross domestic products (GDPs), are reported. The US economic dominance is compared with the Dutch and British dominance in earlier centuries, and in spite of a current halt in the decline of the US economic dominance, the supposition that the US will continue to plunge downwards is disputed.
