Time for a new model
Article Abstract:
The US government contends that HUD makes overpayments in subsidized housing programs of massive proportions which is a code for under-reported income as most subsidized housing programs require tenants to pay 30 percent of their adjusted household income for rent. HUD's solution is to ferret out discrepancies reported as income through a match of tenant data and social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service income data that it calls as an income discrepancy resolution process.

Using new markets tax credits to leverage public funds
Article Abstract:
Tax credits are part of the New Markets Tax Credit program enacted in the year 2000 with a view to bring private investment capital to small business and community development in low income communities. Tax credits help in the leveraging of public funds for community development projects since an applicant allocated tax credits can gain private investments capital based on tax credits to combine with its own loan funds to make investments or loans in low income areas.
