Treatment of juvenile sex offenders: a review of the literature
Article Abstract:
Researchers are beginning to show an interest in the treatment of juvenile sex offenders. A review of the literature on the subject reveals that treatment techniques include modification of cognitive distortions, social skills training and therapy for inappropriate sexual arousal. Treatment modals include group therapy and family therapy, and some researchers highlight the special issues involved in the treatment of juvenile sex offenders. There are studies of recidivism rates, but there is a need for further research into the effectiveness of different types of treatment.

Evaluation of the Late Nite Basketball Project
Article Abstract:
The Late Nite Basketball Program has positive effects on participants, project staff, parents, others close to participants, and communities in helping to reduce gang involvement and violence. The program is seen as an innovative model which should be expanded to serve more communities and services, and should be part of a multidimensional plan to prevent gang involvement. An evaluation of the program suggests that staff members and law enforcement officers should received expanded training, and public relations and publicity should be expanded.
