Water conflicts in South Asia
Article Abstract:
Water conflicts in South Asia have emerged from the partitioning of the country and the integration of princely states, which created the need to redraw the map. One of these disputes involved regulations of the Pujab canal system in India, which resulted in the severing of ties between India and Pakistan. The World Bank spearheaded mediatory efforts leading to the establishment of the Indus Water Treaty in 1960. Years of conflict between India and Bangladesh over sharing the waters of the Ganga River have ended with the signing of the Ganga Water Treaty in 1996.

India's security environment: an Indian view
Article Abstract:
India faces a number of security problems that are both domestic and international in scope. India continues to face internal turmoil from religous fundamentalists and separtists. Also, a review of historical events clearly show that both Pakistan and China are perceived as likely threats to India's security. Despite this, US-India relations have greatly improved largely due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Apart from Indian foreign relations, the country is faced with other global concerns such as nuclear nonproliferation, trade and human rights.

Indo-Pakistani nuclear issues and the stability/instability paradox
Article Abstract:
The early stages of nuclearization in South Asia have resulted in the existence of the stability/instability paradox.
