Across the west: sage grouse are losing home on the range
Article Abstract:
Sage grouse are threatened and environmentalists are anxious to have the bird registered as endangered. Hunting for this bird does still take place in nine Western states where their numbers are still high and information on this is presented.

Northwest salmon roundup: hit these hotspots for fall chinooks
Article Abstract:
Washington and Oregon are expected to have good salmon fishing in Autumn 2000 as surveys reveal the chinooks will weigh between 18 and 25 pounds. Seven locations around the Columbia River where the salmon fishing should be good are presented.

The prospects for steelhead fishing in the Grande Ronde River system in Mar 2001 are discussed. The number of steelhead swimming up the river toward hatcheries is almost double the 10-year average.
