The 1898-vintage Curlew has had a prolific past. Converted to a yacht in 1975, it has served its owners as a home for twenty years. During that time it has crossed the Atlantic and Tasman Seas several times, won regattas and survived a severe collision.

A sailing couple recounts the difficulties they encountered on their cruise to South Georgia Island in the South Atlantic. The couple embarked on the voyage in 1992 aboard their 28-foot wooden and engineless cutter, the Curlew.

Albatross oasis

A married couple explores Bird Island in South Georgia, Falkland Islands, on the boat 'Curlew.' Almost 30,000 albatrosses, petrels, ducks and penguins inhabit Bird Island. The albatrosses are friendly and not afraid of humans.
