A test was conducted to compare sail making adhesives and stitching other types of adhesives available in a boat's tool bag or at typical hardware stores. Sometimes sails are just not worth repairing even after routine nursing.

The tropics demand double ply sail covers or at least covers with foil liners. This is to protect the ultraviolet rays from penetrating and causing skin damage and wreaking havoc with fiber and plastic parts of the sails.
