To fail at a tournament such as the Masters, is to fail before the eyes of the golfing world. The stories of golfers who failed in such venues as the Olympics and how they were effected, are related. They include Arnold Palmer's 1996 loss at the Olympics, and Ed Sneed's 1979 loss at the Augusta National.

The CGA is a mini golf tour in which celebrities regularly compete for cash prizes. The quality of play of the celebrities has risen sharply since the CGA was a once-a-year event, and winners now generally score under par. The tournaments have proven to be very popular among fans.
