Physical activity and cardiovascular disease: evidence for a dose response
Article Abstract:
This article investigates the dose response relationship between physical activity levels and the development of cardiovascular diseases. Findings indicate that the risk of developing a cardiovascular disease, especially ischemic heart disease, is inversely related to regular physical activity volume.

Physical activity profiles of U.S. adults trying to lose weight: NHIS 1998
Article Abstract:
The prevalence and characteristics of United States (U.S.) adults who used exercise as a weight loss strategy and the prevalence of meeting various institutionally recommended levels of physical activity amongst these individuals is studied using the data collected from the 1998 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). Amongst the people surveyed, only slightly more than half fulfilled the criteria of minimal recommendations for physical activity and only half used exercises to reduce weight.

Comparison of the 2001 BRFSS and the IPAQ physical activity questionnaires
Article Abstract:
The 2001 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) physical activity module and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) are used in population studies to verify the prevalence of physical activity. It is concluded that because of differences in the physical activity prevalence estimates, direct comparison of the BRFSS and IPAQ estimates is not recommended.
