There are currently nearly 200,000 vending machines installed at leisure facilities in the UK, representing a total of 28% of the vending machine market. It is estimated that there are an additional 1.4 million potential sites for vending machines within the leisure industry. A recent survey has revealed that nearly 60% of those questioned had recently bought from a vending machine, and machines located in sports and leisure outlets were the most popular.

The visitor attraction market in western Europe is very different from that of central and eastern Europe, according to the Continental European Visitor Attractions Survey from Touche Ross. The market in western Europe is extremely varied, while that in eastern and central Europe is based on culture and heritage. Attractions in western Europe have been seeing rising visitor numbers, but this has not been the case in central and eastern Europe.

Cash in hand. (common frauds and how to prevent them)

There are a wide range of cash sale scenarios in the leisure industry which can lead to losses through fraud. Cashiers often work short shifts and tills are often balanced on a daily or even weekly basis. Systems have been developed to speed up the cash counting process, therefore reducing time involved in balancing the tills and allowing tills to be checked more frequently.
