Taiwan
Article Abstract:
Taiwan has few attractions to draw large numbers of international tourists and is therefore not important as a visitor destination in the Asia-Pacific region. Over 2 million people visited the island in 1994, most of whom were from elsewhere in the region. Taiwan's healthy economy means that tourism is not a main focus for the government. It is not expected that there will be a rapid growth in visitor numbers in the future.

The Gambia
Article Abstract:
Since gaining independence from Great Britain in 1965, the Gambia has been slowly opening up its tourist market. Attractions include unspoilt beaches and a picturesque interior. However, some important weaknesses must be addressed if full potential is to be reached. The poor service and facilities and inadequate infrastructure must be improved to stimulate the market.
