Article Abstract:
Am overview of the work of the Rainier, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ship. The crew of the Rainier are involved in efforts to update the charts of the ocean floor off Alaska. Some of these charts date back 225 years to the days of Captain James Cook and, as a result of marine geologic activity, are often dangerously inaccurate.
