A high-performance brain-computer interface
Article Abstract:
The low performance of the brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), which assist patients suffering from neurological injury, relative to systems relying on eye movements, has remained a major obstacle in their development into an essential device for use by patients suffering from neurological injury. The design and demonstration of a brain-computer interface (BCI), the performance of which is manifold higher than previously reported BCI, are presented.

Structural plasticity in the bilingual brain
Article Abstract:
Humans have a unique ability to learn more than one language - a skill that is thought to be mediated by functional plastic changes in the brain. Here we show that learning a second language increases the density of grey matter in the left inferior parietal cortex and that the degree of structural reorganization in this region is modulated by the proficiency attained and the age at acquisition.

Heterotrophic plasticity and resilience in bleached corals
Article Abstract:
The coral host has a significant role in recovery and resilience. Bleached and recovering Montipora capitata corals met more than 100% of their daily metabolic energy requirements by markedly increasing their feeding rates and CHAR (per cent contribution of heterotrophically acquired carbon input), whereas Porites compressa and Porites lobata corals did not.
