A waiting game between the black-bellied plover and its fiddler crab prey
Article Abstract:
An empirical test of the four predictions of the waiting game during interactions between the black-bellied plover, Pluvialis squatarola, and its prey, the fiddler crab, Uca princeps, is presented. The results indicate that the waiting decisions of the black-bellied plover and U. princeps support the general predictions of Hugie (2003) and result from a predator-prey waiting game.

Predation risk on incubating adults constrains the choice of thermally favorable nest sites in a plover
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to understand the reason for Kentish plover, Charadrius alexandrinus, nests having little or no cover. The study concludes that thermally favorable nest sites increase the predation risk in plovers and thus uncovered sites are preferred to covered sites.
