Age and weight at weaning affect corticosterone level and development of stereotypes in ICR-mice
Article Abstract:
Male ICR-mice pups' weaning age and weight were manipulated to determine their effects on the plasma corticosterone level and development of stereotypes. The pups were divided into precociously weaned (PW), low weaning weight (L) and high weaning weight (H) groups. Their blood samples and behaviors were analyzed two days after weaning. Results showed that both PW and L mice have a higher corticosterone level and developed a higher degree of stereotypic exploratory and escape behavior than H mice.

Patterns of maternal effort in mouse lines bidirectionally selected for aggression
Article Abstract:
The maternal behavior of multiparous female wild house mice selected from short attack latency (SAL) aggressive lines and long attack latency (LAL) non-aggressive lines was examined. SAL mothers nursed and groomed their offspring more than LAL mothers, and tended to be less active. LAL mothers tended to rest alone more than SAL mothers. LAL and SAL mothers exhibit different maternal patterns behaviorally and physiologically, which allows their young to grow in an appropriate way.
