Big engine finds small breaks
Article Abstract:
Most communities maintain an impressive collection of hardware for dealing with major emergencies. A double strand break in DNA is the cellular equivalent of a three-alarm fire. RecBCD aids in the repair of double strand breaks that occur during normal DNA replication and due to damage by ionizing radiation.

Phosphorylation-dependent binding of mitotic cyclins to Cdc6 contributes to DNA replication control
Article Abstract:
The mitotic CDK, Clb2/Cdc28, binds tightly into an amino-terminal domain (NTD) of Cdc6 that is unable to assemble pre-RCs. The evidence indicating that the Clb2-dependent mechanism prevents replication in vivo is presented.
