Break-induced replication and telomerase-independent telomere maintenance require Pol32
Article Abstract:
Rad51-dependent break-induced replication (BIR) induced by HO endonuclease has required the lagging strand DNA Pol[alpha]-primase complex as well as Pol[delta] to initiate new DNA synthesis in haploid budding yeast. Pol32 homologues are identified both in fission yeast and in metazoans where telomerase-independent survivors with alternative telomere maintenance are also identified.

DNA end resection, homologous recombination, and DNA damage checkpoint activation require CDK1
Article Abstract:
DNA damage checkpoint in budding by a DSB requires the cyclin-dependent kinase CDK1 (Cdc2) in budding yeast. CDK1 is also important for a later step in homologous recombination, after strand invasion and before the initiation of new DNA synthesis.
