Breeding-season survival of male and female mallards in Canada's Prairie-Parklands
Article Abstract:
Ninety male and 272 female mallards during two breeding seasons in the Prairie-Parkland region of Canada were captured, radiomarked and monitored. The findings suggested that breeding-season survival of males had little impact on mallard population growth and that management effort to increase female survival rates offered greater potential to enhance mallard production.

Influence of land use on mallard nest-structure occupancy
Article Abstract:
The link between land use and mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) occupancy of single- and double-cylinder nest structures on a 658 square kilometers western Minnesota, USA, from 1997 to 1999 is analyzed. The visual obstruction measurements and nest occupancy were positively related early in the nesting season while the trend reversed later in the nesting season.
