Britain bans fur farms

In November, 2000, the United Kingdom's Fur Farming (Prohibition) Act became law. The act, which is the result of 15 years of campaigning by animal activists Respect for Animals, essentially bans people from breeding or keeping animals purely so that they can kill the animals to sell their fur.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) successfully convinced the Utah-based US Army Dugway Proving Ground to discontinue its 'Survival Skills' classes. The classes teaches groups of 40 soldiers in the practice of hunting, killing, cooking and eating chickens and tame rabbits.
