Captive breeding and reintroduction evaluation criteria: a case study of peninsular bighorn sheep
Article Abstract:
Captive breeding and augmentation program is used for the endangered desert bighorn sheep population inhabiting the Peninsular Ranges of southern California as a case study for determining ongoing reintroductions. Findings of the case study suggests that standard evaluation criteria for ongoing introductions allow for informative assessments and facilitate comparisons required to refine reintroduction science as a recovery tool for threatened or endangered populations.

Application of reproduction technologies to the conservation of genetic resources
Article Abstract:
Reproductive technology has proven to be effective for increasing population sizes of endangered species and reducing the level of genetic drift. Recent advances allow the use of multiple cells from a single meiosis, which enables researchers to avoid drift generated by heterozygote segregation.

Ecological, behavioral, and life-history correlates of mammal extinctions in West Africa
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on biological diversity in West Africa. The hypothesis that the results based on local extinctions of mammals in West Africa can help wildlife managers to identify extinction-prone species in other parts of Africa has been tested, and the results are reported.
