Understanding ocean dynamics

Article Abstract:

A satellite altimeter provides accurate and detailed information on ocean dynamics such as the sea surface topography, ocean currents and tides, along with the changes in these dynamics. Satellite altimetry indicates precisely the formation of tides, and that the Northern and Southern Hemispheres are asymmetric. The data collected over a long period of time using this technique could facilitate a better comprehension of the Earth's sub-surface and the interactions between oceans and the atmosphere.
