City state hopes research cash will buy global status
Article Abstract:
The city-state of Singapore has announced that its newly established National Research Foundation would spend S$1.4 billion during 2006-10 in the three areas of biomedical research, environment and water technologies and interactive and digital media. The government hopes that the move would help in keeping Singapore's competitive edge in science and technology research, over big and growing economies such as those of India and China.
