Cockroach aggregation: discrimination between strain odours in Blatella germanica
Article Abstract:
German cockroaches, Blatella germanica, were examined to explore their ability to discriminate between strain odors by behavioral experiments. Past research had indicated that this species deposits an aggregate pheromone by body contact and are perceived by larvae at all developmental stages. Results showed that different strains have variations of a specific odor which enables the insects to discriminate between strains.

Skin and gland but not urine odours elicit conspicuous investigation by female grey short-tailed opossums, Monodelphis domestica
Article Abstract:
The effects of body odours on the behaviour of female opossums are elucidated by investigating their ability to discriminate between conspecific odours originating from different body parts. Results suggest that in this species, which inhabits semiarid areas, urine marking is avoided to reduce dehydration, and consequently urine has lost its biological significance as a chemosignal.

Do house mice modify their foraging behaviour in response to predator odours and habitat?
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that predator odours and habitat structure influence the behaviour of mice, which use them as cues to reduce risks of predation, is investigated. It is suggested that the general importance of predator odours in influencing the foraging of small mammalian prey may be overestimated.
