Counting the ten-year returns
Article Abstract:
Participants in the 10th Anniversary HTS Workshop on Physics, Materials and Applications in Houston, TX, Mar. 12-16, 1996, discussed pairing mechanisms, material and applications, and future applications of high-temperature superconductors (HTSC). According to John Rowell, many of the price and performance objectives of HTSC electronics have been achieved, especially in passive radio frequency filters. An underground AC transmission cable has been successfully tested at Aldo Bolza, Milan. Developments in the field of synchronous motors and BSCCO tapes are discussed.
