Differential activation of the inflammasome by caspase-1 adaptors ASC and Ipaf
Article Abstract:
A study of the impact of the deficiency of adaptors ASC-, Ipaf- or RIP2, proposed to regulate caspase-1, on inflammasome functions is presented. Data showing ASC as key to caspase-1 activation within the inflammasome whereas Ipaf provides a special conduit to the inflammasome for signals triggered by intracellular pathogens is presented.

Popping out of the nucleus
Article Abstract:
Nuclear transport is mediated by short sequence elements in Cargo molecules which carriers a nuclear localization sequence (NLS) is imported whereas a nuclear expert sequence (NES) is used for export. The structure of an export complex completes the molecular picture of the nuclear transport cycle.
