Small molecule activators of sirtuins extend Saccharomyces cerevisiae lifespan
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on sirtuin family of NAD (super)+ -dependent protein deacetylases including SIRT1 human deacetylase which promotes cell survival. The authors demonstrate that activator resveratol, a polyphenol from red wine lowers the Michaelis constant of SIRT1 and increases cell survival via stimulation of SIRT1-dependent deacetylation of p53.

Volume control
Article Abstract:
The sonar signals emitted by bats, dolphins and submarines are discussed since they all use sound rather than vision to locate prey, friend or foe. The nature of these sonar signals is studied using a symmetrical array of four hydrophones.
