Educating effector T cells
Article Abstract:
A new treatment has been introduced which does away with the graft-versus-host reaction and lymphoproliferative diseases in mice transplanted with human blood cells. Long-term graft survival was indicated as the human cells survived in the mice. The experiment provides a possible effective approach in regulating the immune system. However, surgeons' technical ability to transplant different organs from victims of car accidents to terminally ill patients has yet to meet its success equally with controlling immune reactions in graft acceptance.

New directions for organ transplantation
Article Abstract:
A controversial potential development in organ transplantation is xenotransplantation, the use of animal organs and tissues. There is currently a shortage of donor organs and tissues, and xenotransplantation could overcome this problem, and would also allow for planned transplantation. The main problem with xenotransplantation is potential graft rejection and the possible risk of new human diseases.
