Factors affecting detection probability of California black rails
Article Abstract:
A dual study was conducted that compared detection probability of California black rails between passive and call-broadcast surveys and it examined the factors that influenced these probabilities. The results suggested a higher number of black rails detection using call-broadcast surveys as compared to the other method while the detection probability fluctuated as the day went on.

Probability of detecting band-tailed pigeons during call-broadcast versus auditory surveys
Article Abstract:
The two different probable band-pigeon survey methods, auditory and call-broadcast surveys, were assessed from 2002- 2004 in the five mountain ranges in southern Arizona, U.S. and in mixed-conifer forest throughout the state. It was demonstrated that call-broadcast increases the probability of detecting band-tailed pigeons or any types of Columbidae during surveys.

Effect of forest fire suppression on buff-breasted flycatchers
Article Abstract:
Larger numbers of buff-breasted flycatchers were found in areas with high severity fires in the U.S. Fire suppression caused decline in their population and landscapes with both recently burned and unburned forest areas were found most suited for them.
